| Who started the rumor that the Confederate Flag was about racism? For that matter, who still believes that the Civil war was fought to end slavery? It's time for us to do something that should have been done in school! Read real history. I challenge each of you to go beyond the school text books to real history books and learn for yourselves what our schools never did. If your intelligent enough to wonder, you can find them. My personal favorite is The Lies My Teacher Told Me, by James Loewen. You can do your own research and then you'll have more reason to believe what you learn. |
| As for the Confederate Flag, it means much the same for us Southerners as the American Flag does to Americans. It means that good men died to protect what they believed in. They carried that Flag as a symbol of the brave men, black and white that gave their lives for freedom to believe. It means that here, in the South, we are VETERAN PROUD! We uphold our veterans and honor them as the hero's that they all are. That's all. Those who choose to continue to hold on to the hate that was fueled during the Civil War, will no doubt disregard this as another racist comment. For those who are just a bit curious, do check out some books about the true history of America. You'll be surprised and enlightened as well. |
