I got an email last month that I had prayed for for years. Someone had responded to a post on a NC genealogy forum The email stated that they believed they had located some family members. I eagerly gave my information to withdraw money from my checking account, and signed up for the "5 day free trial". It didn't take long to figure out that I had been scammed. I got no username or password. When I tried repeatedly to cancel, the mailbox was full. I sent a certified letter to the address provided on the website. It was returned "not a correct address." Please don't respond to any of these cruel scams. The name on my email was WWW. GENSEEKERS.ORG.
They have many aliases. Here are some;

I was really hurt that I had been cheated in such a cruel way, and embarrassed! I'm very careful and I can't believe that I could let something like that happen to me. It simply proves that under the right circumstances, we all are vulnerable! After all this time, I would gladly give all my money, just to know who my Mother is or was!
I didn't share this with you for pity, but in hopes that it might reach someone else that might also think they are too smart for that. We all still think with our hearts first, then our heads. Good luck fellow researchers!
